112 MP’S TAKE OATH
The National Assembly has today sworn in 112 of the 224 Members of Parliament elected during the country’s 2026 General Elections, marking the beginning of a new parliamentary term that will run until 2031.
The swearing-in ceremony was presided over by Speaker of the National Assembly Nelly Mutti at the National Assembly Buildings.
Of the 224 Members of Parliament to be sworn into office, 7 were elected unopposed in their respective constituencies during the 2026 general elections.
Among those taking the oath of office were Kankoyo Member of Parliament, Edward Chomba,Keembe Member of Parliament, Princess Kasune, Mpulungu- North Member of Parliament, Freedom Sikazwe, Shiwang’andu Member of Parliament, Stephen Kampyongo and Mwandi Member of Parliament Iris Kaingu.
The ceremony formally ushered the newly elected lawmakers into the National Assembly, where they are expected to represent their respective constituencies and participate in the legislative business of the country over the next five years.
