118 HOUSEHOLDS HOMELESS AS HOUSES COLLAPSE IN PARTS OF MAZABUKA

Over 118 households in Pelusa and Chizooma villages in Mwanachingwala Chiefdom, Mazabuka District, have left homeless after their houses collapsed due to heavy rains.

This came to light when the District Disaster Management And Mitigation Unit (DMMU) committee visited the affected households.

Headman Pelusa, Bornface Maambo, disclosed that the affected families have lost food and Livestock.

He explained that the livestock and food were washed away by the heavy rains.

One of the victims, Matron Mweete, appealed to government to come their aid by providing tents and food.

She complained that they have lost all their food and shelter.

And Mazabuka District Commissioner, Oliver Mulomba as well as Magoye Member of Parliament, Mweemba Malambo, described the flooding situation as a disaster that needs urgent attention.
