ALL People’s Congress (APC) President Nason Msoni regrets that the forthcoming 2021 general election slated for August 12 is far too oppressive against the Opposition political parties.
Mr Msoni says this is the most oppressive election Zambia would have held going by the various imposed restrictions.
“We think it is necessary to level the playing field in order for the elections to be said to have been free and fair,” Mr Msoni said in a statement to NewAge in Lusaka today.
The opposition leader further says candidates should be allowed to make a case with Zambians on why they should be elected.
“We think that using the police to stifle the democratic space is tantamount to playing dirty tactics and disadvantaging opponents,” he said.
“The visibility of the ECZ is rather more important in the circumstances than for an aspiring candidate to be making and introducing new rules when the game has already started playing. This is absolutely unfair,” he added.
