By Marcus Sakubita

Authorities in Mongu have intercepted eight (8) Container Trucks laden with Mukula logs.

The trucks bearing Namibian registration numbers were impounded on suspicion that they were carrying illegal timber.

The trucks were intercepted at Mongu round about en route to Namibia through Katima Mulilo border in Sesheke District.

However, Western Province Joint Operation Committee (PJOC) Chairperson Brigadier General Francis Chitambo says the logs in question are from the neighboring Country, the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Brigadier General Chitambo says preliminary investigations show that the consignment has all the necessary documentation.

The trucks are yet to be cleared to proceed after verification.
