Jabulani Khumalo loses control of MK Party’s bank account after court ruling

MK Party founder Jabulani Khumalo lost his bid to retain control of the party’s bank account.

Despite being expelled and removed as a leader, Khumalo wanted to remain a signatory of the MK Party’s Standard Bank account, which he opened while serving as party leader.

The account was reportedly frozen because Khumalo refused to grant the party access to it.

On Monday, 23 September, the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria ruled that Standard Bank should remove Khumalo as a signatory and that he must cover the MK Party’s legal costs.

The decision came after Khumalo, along with Ray Khumalo, Bheki Manzini, and Lebo Moepeng, was expelled before the historic 29 May elections as part of the party’s efforts to rid itself of disruptive elements that could undermine its integrity.
