DON’T REMOVE US BEFORE THE PRESIDENT’S TERM ENDS- GARY NKOMBO

Mazabuka Central Member of Parliament Gary Nkombo has called for unity in the ruling United Party for National Development, the (UPND).

Mr. Nkombo pleaded with colleagues not to push out long-serving members, saying they all belong to the same party.

He said, “Don’t kick us out yet, we are all UPND.”

Mr. Nkombo reminded his fellow members that during the difficult days of opposition, some of those now seeking leadership positions were nowhere to be seen.

He urged the party to give his group a chance to continue serving, and added that if anyone must be removed, it should be done together with the President at the end of his ten-year term.

Mr. Nkombo’s remarks come as internal debates continue over the party’s direction and leadership succession.

  1. Gray you were removed as Minister without an explaination. If that is so, then ut simply means that you failed the Zambian people somewhere somehow.
The question is those that aspire to replace you. Are they interested in your positions for the status or they are up to the task?
Staff development is something that we have never taken time to do. The notion is that we want to hold these positions until we die, yet we are only stewards.
This is why parties tend to be prominent only until the founders are removed. No succession plan is ever put in place. Insecurities.
Once we view these positions as roles we perform for “the people” and not as a means of making a living. Mobility and succession will not be an issue. Gary you will willing move on as you will see that you played your role. For now you sound like a deperate grouping that want to hold on to positions yet when given the opportunity you failed to do your job.
The Minister of Agriculture the biggest culprit. How do you make “knee jerk statement” to farmer like that? At such a critical time? When leaders lack the kind of insight to make such statements one has to ask how they run Ministries? How and what Policy can come out such a person. Even na ma MBA some people just can not cut it. What effective development can be achieved? Inde bwana…doesnt do the work. This is just one example.

  2. Please ba Nkombo, give a chance to others, especially the young ones. That is how you renew an organisation. It is not about being around when the going was tough but rather the regeneration of your party. Fact is you have been an MP for many years. It is time to hand over the baton to someone else.

I know it is very difficult to leave your comfort zone but it is time for you and others like you to leave the stage and play the role of mentor to upcoming leaders. This can be done in a controlled way or in an acrimonious fashion depending on how you exit.

  3. From President to councillors, it will be NYUUUUU. YOU ARE ALL BEING FIRED FOR GROSS TRIBALISM, CORRUPTION AND OPPRESSION.

    VOTE FOR CHANGE IN 2026.

  4. I’m 100% with Gary Nkombo. But my most emphasis is that primaries should be strengthened. Le aspirants be vetted by primaries not NMC unless on special issues. Let the people choose because AMAKA BANTU. The young ones should never be given preference. They should compete against any other person in primaries. You see the senior members should be ably appreciated and respected. When opposition was hot they stayed away , now that honey is flowing they come closer. There is some saying that those who want honey should be willing to be bitten by bees. Ba Nkombo, Mwiimbu, Mweetwas and many others suffered and brought us where we are now so they should be rewarded if people still want their services. Don’t push them away because you want coward new blood. No. Let those boys and girls wait. Their time will come.

  5. This nonsense of kneeling before crowds seems very suspicious to me. When begging for votes, they kneel after they win they start kicking people’s asses.
