By Daily Star Reporter

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested and charged former Director of Kafue Gorge Regional Training Centre (KGRTC) Kaela Siame for corruption involving US$35,000.

ACC Spokesperson Queen Chibwe disclosed in a statement today that the 57-year-old man has been charged with nine counts of Abuse of Authority of Office.

Chibwe said the accused allegedly abused his authority of office when he, on multiple occasions between 2016 and 2020, arbitrarily approved applications for subsistence allowances amounting to the money in question for a project that was fully sponsored.

“Mr. Siame’s actions as a Public Officer to abuse his authority of office are prejudicial to the rights and interests of the Government of the Republic of Zambia as the transactions involve the Kafue Gorge Regional Training Centre, which is a public body,” she said.

“Mr. Siame has been released on bond and will appear in court on 28th June, 2022.”
