ACCESS BANK GIVE K500,000 TO ZAMBIA’S DROUGHT RESPONSE
Vice President Mutale Nalumango has commended Access Bank Group for giving Zambia K500,000 meant for the country’s drought response strategy.
Speaking in Lusaka today when a delegation from Access Bank paid a courtesy call on her, Mrs. Nalumango said the funds which are meant for the nutrition component of the drought response, will improve the nutritional status of mothers and children.
The Vice President said failure to address nutrition in the country can have long-term negative effects on lactating mothers and their children.
In addition, the Vice President applauded Access Bank for having products that focus on the development of women.
She acknowledged that women play a critical role in Zambia’s economy hence financial institutions having products with a bias towards women development, is a step in the right direction.
She urged the bank to continue being inclusive in their approach.
“We totally appreciate what Access Bank is doing, we need women, youths and farmers as we develop the products,” she said.
And Access Bank Group Deputy Managing Director Chizoma Okoli says the firm decided to help Zambia’s drought response due to the favourable operating environment experienced for the past 15 years.
“Zambia has been good to us, that is why we feel we need to give back to the country,” she stated.
Ms. Okoli acknowledged operating in a conducive environment for 15 years without challenges that have disrupted business.
“We have been present in Zambia for the past 15 years and we have not had any problems, we are enjoying it here”, she said.
