Gillian Anderson has spoken openly about her s3xuality, identifying as pans3xual and reflecting on her past relationships with women.
The 58 year old actress explained that she is attracted to people regardless of gender identity. She also confirmed that she had romantic relationships with women when she was younger.
Anderson previously discussed a relationship she had with an older girl while attending high school. At the time, she felt that the relationship had to remain secret because she did not have the language or confidence to understand and express her s3xuality.
Although she was also attracted to men, Anderson said her relationships with women were meaningful. She explained that the person she considers her life partner happens to be a man, but she believes she could feel the same way about a woman.
The actress also discussed how listening to other women speak about desire and relationships helped her develop a broader understanding of s3xuality. She said many women around her age appear to be rediscovering their sensuality and enjoying new experiences through dating.
Her work on the Netflix series “S3x Education” also helped her become more comfortable discussing s3x and desire. That experience later inspired her books “Want” and “More,” which feature anonymous letters from women sharing their s3xual fantasies and personal experiences.
Anderson first spoke publicly about having relationships with women in 2012. She has since continued to discuss her s3xuality with openness, while making it clear that she does not believe attraction or emotional connection should be limited by gender.
Anderson was previously married to Clyde Klotz and Julian Ozanne. She has also been romantically linked to “The Crown” creator Peter Morgan. Anderson and Morgan reportedly separated in 2020, although they later prompted speculation that they had reconciled.
