MWANZA CONDEMNS FALSE CLAIMS OVER PRESIDENT HICHILEMA’S HEALTH
Lusaka – Democratic Party President Antonio Mourinho Mwanza has condemned falsehoods and malicious rumours claiming that President Hakainde Hichilema is sick, warning that such narratives undermine democratic discourse and weaken the credibility of the opposition.
In a statement, Mr. Mwanza said the sustained use of rumours, personal attacks and misinformation as a substitute for policy-based debate projects an image of bitterness, lack of direction and desperation among some opposition players.
He said such conduct does not inspire public confidence nor offer Zambians viable political alternatives, but instead alienates well-meaning citizens from constructive political engagement.
“Our duty, as the Opposition, is to engage the UPND government and President Hakainde Hichilema on substantive issues that affect the lives of our people, economic management, governance, accountability and national development,” Mr. Mwanza said.
He stressed that while robust criticism of government is both acceptable and necessary in a democracy, it must be grounded in facts, sound ideas and a genuine commitment to the national interest.
Mr. Mwanza noted that Zambia deserves principled leadership and a mature opposition that elevates public debate rather than degrades it through unsubstantiated claims and personal attacks.
“When you have nothing constructive to say, it is sometimes best to keep quiet. After all, a closed mouth can be mistaken for wisdom,” he said.
The Democratic Party leader warned that the strength and relevance of the opposition will ultimately be judged by the quality, seriousness and integrity of its political engagement.
Mr. Mwanza called on opposition leaders to refocus their energies on issue-based politics that advance national development and strengthen Zambia’s democratic culture.

Sishuwa Sishiwa has morphed and turned himself into a hairy rumor-mongering bustard
A timely reminder Antonio for our opposition, let us engage on real issues.
People have not forgotten Antonio when you said, “This time when we lock him up, we shall throw away the keys, he shall die in prison”. maybe someone needs to jog your memory a bit.
Boss Boss, sometimes we just focus on the topic, I don’t like Antonio because of history but what he has said its not any different if it came from Kawana, Mwetwa, Chiti Mukulu or anyone you love. The fact is his points are valid and there is need to amplify them. We will gain more. My thoughts
Just say sishua sishua, mwamba are political clowns
Antonio, reading the approaching writing on the change in political approach. Yes boy, lead the way and please dont go tribal, regional or personal ever again, That era was for the kambwilis , Membes, mumbi phiri, kbf, Luo, Muhabi lungu, Yaluma, and no longer acceptable in the present dispensation. Today you caught my attention and that many others. HH never responds and never talks personal of another politician. Learn from him and be different from the old low lifers
Antonio Mwanza, slowly but sure reading the political mood and shifting alliance to UPND. Well, clever you would say after all the utterances he used to make but we doubt anyone will be fouled.
