By Lukundo Nankamba
As publication for the over 11, 000 health workers list gets released today, stakeholders in the health sector have remained anxious and optimistic on the recruitment of successful candidates to fill health workers positions.
Yesterday, Civil Service Commission Chairperson Peter Mumba announced that government has concluded the recruitment process of 11, 276 health workers with names of all successful applicants to be published today.
This announcement comes after the publishing of names of successful candidates was postponed from 22nd July, 2022 to today 29th July due to overwhelming response after 137, 129 applications were received from across the country of which the commission wanted to ensure the right candidates are selected.
In an interview with Phoenix News, Unemployed Doctor Association Chairperson Wallace Ndumba says the release of recruited health workers will improve quality health care in Zambia especially that the country is short of health personnel which currently stands at 1 doctor per 12,000 patients.
And Biomedical Union of Zambia President Daniel Mwimbe is hopeful that the list will be released today without further delay.
