BREAKING NEWS: APARTHEID SERIAL KILLER CALLS FW DE KLERK A KILLER WHO NEVER FACED JUSTICE

Former apartheid hit squad commander Eugene de Kock says former president FW de Klerk’s Nobel Peace Prize needs to be stripped away, calling him a killer who never faced justice. Speaking at the TRC Cases Inquiry today, Monday 26 October 2026, De Kock, 77, known as “Prime Evil”, said he was turned into the scapegoat for apartheid crimes while top leaders walked away completely free.

Testifying before retired Constitutional Court Justice Sisi Khampepe at the Brigitte Mabandla Justice College in Pretoria, De Kock told the inquiry probing delays in prosecution of TRC cases:  “He said he doesn’t have blood on his hands… but he’s up to his elbows in the blood of children, that his Nobel Prize must be retracted, because he gave the order to General George Meiring.”

De Kock said: “FW De Klerk’s Nobel peace prize must be revoked because he is a killer who was never convicted.”

He pushed back against De Klerk’s past claims of having clean hands, arguing that the former president made calls that directly resulted in children being killed.

He specifically referred to the October 1993 Mthatha raid in which five youths, including two 12-year-olds, were shot dead by the South African Defence Force at the Mpendulo residence in Northcrest, in an alleged operation against the Azanian People’s Liberation Army (Apla). The NPA has opened an inquest into those killings.

“He actually got a Nobel prize for killing children. I think it is disgusting. It should be recalled,” De Kock said. De Kock also accused former NPA prosecutor Anton Ackerman of shielding senior generals and politicians from prosecution, saying: “The people who arranged [the murder] sat right next to Ackerman in my court case, and I’m prosecuted for that murder, and I’m found guilty while the very persons who organised the murder and facilitated it were sitting next to Ackerman.”

De Kock commanded the notorious Vlakplaas police unit near Pretoria, which abducted, tortured and murdered anti-apartheid activists.

In 1996 he was sentenced to two life terms plus 212 years for six murders. He was granted amnesty for some offences by the TRC but denied for others, and released on parole in 2015 after 19 years.

The inquiry continues.
