APPOINTMENT OF NEW DISTRICT COMMISSIONERS OPPOSED
A Development Activist, Charity Musamba has opposed President Hakainde Hichilema’s decision to appoint new District Commissioners, saying there is no need to maintain this position because it is irrelevant from the economic and development perspective.
Speaking in an interview with 5FM News , Dr Musamba has cautioned that the office of the D-C will continue gobbling public resources as it is only used for partisan reasons.
She says the President should not have replaced the 116 District commissioners who were fired but abolish the office of the D-C.
She feels on the political front, the office of the D-C gives an opportunity to those that are in power to continue rewarding their friends.
She noted that the new dawn government was quick to abolish the Ministries of Gender and Guidance and Religious Affairs but wonders why it has failed to scrape off the office of the District Commissioner.
Dr Musamba said what the country needs is the District administration Office in order to serve the interest of the citizens.
