Government has constituted a joint investigations team comprising the Zambia Police, Drug Enforcement Commission, Anti-Corruption Commission and Financial Intelligence Centre, to deal with crime related to asset recovery and corruption.

The team is working with other institutions including Zambia Revenue Authority, Zambia Information Communication and Technology Authority, Bank of Zambia and the office of the Auditor General, to ensure maximum assets recovery.

Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security, Jack Mwiimbu disclosed this during a press briefing in Lusaka.

Meanwhile, Mr. Mwiimbu has directed police to intensify foot and motor patrols to curb the seemingly rise in crime in some parts of the country.
This will include mounting strategic security check points in densely populated areas.

Mr. Mwiimbu says government is worried over the rise of crime that has seen unscrupulous criminals taking the law into their hands and deprive the public of their properties.

The minister has however urged Police officers to uphold and respect fundamental human rights and freedoms of citizens as they undertake the task.-Diamond TV

  1. Good move my advice is to seek specialized agencies in UK and US for assistance while there’s goodwill.
There seems to be overconfidence in some suspects leading one to think they’ve oiled people in Zambian Institutions.Well give people time, let’s wait and see

  2. It may bee too late. By now we should be following court proceedings on how plunderers managed to accumulate so much when they were supposed to serve the people.

  3. Good. Now quicken the pace we need to recover what is ours. This criminals are not that smart to hard what they stole. It will be easily trace and retrieved. The reason is their greed will fix and expose them all.
