AT LEAST 60 CHRISTIANS MASSACRED IN ETHIOPIA AS HOMES ARE SET ABLAZE

At least 60 Orthodox Christians have been killed in two separate attacks in Ethiopia’s conflict-hit Oromia region, triggering widespread condemnation and renewed concerns over religious violence

According to the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, 14 people were killed in an attack on 20 October, while another 46 lost their lives in a separate assault on 24 October 2026.

The attacks occurred in the Arsi Zone of Oromia, where armed conflict and insecurity have continued to threaten civilian communities.

Church authorities reported that more than 20 people sustained serious injuries, while over 20 homes were destroyed by fire.

The Ethiopian Orthodox Church condemned the killings and called on the government to strengthen security, protect civilians and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

The Oromia regional government has pledged to pursue the perpetrators.

However, responsibility for the attacks remains disputed, with no group having immediately claimed responsibility.

The killings have once again highlighted the deteriorating security situation in parts of Ethiopia, where civilians continue to suffer amid prolonged conflict.
