Africa is truly led by buffoons, I tell you.
Bola Tinubu has travelled to Saudi Arabia to pray for Nigeria. Nigeria does not need prayers. It needs good leadership, and good leadership does not come through prayer. It comes through competence, honesty, accountability and hard work.
No amount of praying in Mecca will fix Nigeria’s broken economy, its collapsing currency, its insecurity or the hunger in millions of homes. These are problems created by leaders, and they can only be solved by leaders who make the right decisions, build strong institutions and serve the people instead of themselves.
Faith is a personal matter, and every leader is free to practise his religion. But when a president tells a suffering nation that he has gone abroad to pray for it, he is telling the people that the solution lies somewhere other than his own office. It does not. The answers Nigeria needs are in Abuja, not in Mecca.
Leaders are elected to govern, not to pray on our behalf. We can do the praying ourselves. Tinubu is simply not the right leader for Nigeria!
