BOWMAN SIMPLY EMBRACED THE ROTTENNESS OF OUR ELECTION CAMPAIGNS, THEY ARE MANY MORE IN PARLEY AND COUNCIL CHAMBERS.
The nullification of Mr. Bowman Lusambo’s Kabushi parliamentary seat is not shocking to us in Golden Party of Zambia (GPZ). Mr. Lusumbo simply embraced the rotten culture of political campaigns in our Society.
Our Country’s political campaigns are littered with giving money to voters, political violence, misinformation, insults, character assassination, appeasement and trash talking to shorten the list.
A Zambian voter can vote for anything else other than real issues that affect him/her or their community. Zambian election campaigns will continue to produce below par political leadership if nothing is done about it.
Illiteracy and poverty are at the heart of the zambian campaigns and voting systems. A rotten campaign and voting system cannot produce fresh and wise leaders able to propel the country to greater heights. A rotten and flawed campaign system cannot produce right leaders.
The problem is not Mr. Lusambo, it is the rottenness endemic in our society. Today we have MP’s in the zambian Parliament who did the same things that Mr. Lusambo did to get elected but were not just caught.
No matter how noble your plans maybe to benefit the greater good of the community, an average Zambian voter will always ask you for ‘iyamenshi ba honourable’. Voters line up where they are given money the most.
Over the years, the latest being on 25th November, 2021, As a party we have called on reforming Zambia’s electoral system. In it’s current form, Zambia’s campaign system is flawed.
