BRAVE GIRL REJECTS TEACHER’S K45 CHILANGA MULILO, REPORTS TO THE POLICE
A Grade 11 pupil in Shiwang’andu district showed real courage when she reported her teacher, mother, stepfather and grandmother to the police for attempting to initiate her into marriage.
Muchinga Province Senior Assistant Commissioner Munkondya Buumba has said the teacher identified as Manix Chibulu of Chibesakunda Secondary School paid K45 for the marriage initiation.
On Saturday last week, preparation for the Chilanga Mulilo were underway, but little did they know the girl had phoned the police, Chete FM news has learned.
In coming days, the four suspects will be facing the law when they appear in court.
The girl’s bravery is being praised as it is rare in rural areas of Zambia for young girls to stand up for their rights.
