CANADA TRAINS 21 UKRAINIAN PILOTS AS DRONE PARTNERSHIP TAKES SHAPE

Twenty-one Ukrainian pilots are currently undergoing training in Canada, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced during his visit on September 10.

Ukraine and Canada have also reached an understanding on a major Drone Deal, with the first document now signed. The complete agreement is still being developed, but its purpose is clear: Canada would help finance Ukraine’s defense while gaining access to Ukrainian drone technology and knowledge tested under the harshest conditions of modern warfare.

Prime Minister Mark Carney also announced that Canada intends to produce millions of drones over the next two years, with one-third of that production designated for Ukraine.

This is no longer a one-directional relationship in which Canada simply provides assistance. Canada brings financing, industrial capacity and pilot training; Ukraine contributes battlefield experience and rapidly evolving defense technology.

Together, the two countries are building capabilities that can protect Ukraine today while strengthening Canada’s own armed forces for the future.
