CHALALA TEENAGE SHOOTER TO MISS SISTERS BURIAL – POLICE
The teenager who allegedly shot dead his older sister on Saturday night in Lusaka’s Chalala area will not be able to attend her burial.
The 18-year-old boy is alleged to have shot Zelipa Phiri, 39, for reasons yet to be established by the family and police.
Zelipa was shot in the head using their father Lyson Phiri’s firearm. Police sources have said the boy cannot be released because the incident is a murder case.
“We have given time to the family to mourn before we establish what really happened,” the source said yesterday. “No one is in the right state of mind to explain what happened right now and this is understandable. Let’s give them time to mourn their child.”
The teenager is said to have used his father’s 30.06 calibre rifle.People at the funeral house on Sunday said the two siblings did not have any major misunderstanding which could have possibly led to the shooting.
