CHATUNGA MUGABE GRANTED BAIL IN ZIMBABWE AS CASE INVOLVING A ZACC OFFICIAL AND TWO LUXURY CARS WITH SOUTH AFRICAN REGISTRATION PLATES DRAWS ATTENTION!

Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe, son of Zimbabwe’s late former President Robert Mugabe, has been granted US$100 bail alongside four other accused men following their court appearance over the alleged robbery of a Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) official..

The case has attracted additional attention because two luxury vehicles, a Lamborghini Urus and a Mercedes-Benz GLE 53, reportedly bearing South African registration plates, were found in Zimbabwe amid questions about their temporary import permits and customs records.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the vehicles. However, there is no established evidence in the reports that Chatunga personally imported them or committed a customs offence.

The five accused were granted bail after the prosecution reportedly indicated that it had no compelling reason to oppose their release. Their bail conditions include reporting to the police weekly, remaining at their stated addresses and not interfering with State witnesses.

They are expected to return to court on 24 November.

The case has brought renewed attention to cross-border vehicle movements between South Africa and Zimbabwe, as well as the allegations involving the ZACC official.

The accused remain presumed innocent until proven guilty.
