CHURCH MUST SIDE WITH THE POOR SAYS MPUNDU

Former Archbishop of Lusaka TELEPHORE MPUNDU says the church should always side with the marginalised people in society and not the oppressors.

Archbishop MPUNDU says it is sad that some members of the clergy were compromised prior to the 2021 General Election and never spoke for those that were marginalised.

He says it is sad that now some members of the clergy want to speak for the vulnerable and marginalised when they were quiet prior to the 2021 elections.

Archbishop MPUNDU says each time he spoke for the poor, he was misunderstood to be partisan.

He says as a priest he will never be partisan but defend the voiceless in society.

Archbishop MPUNDU was speaking when President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA’s political advisor LEVY NGOMA called on him MPUNDU in Lusaka today.

And Mr NGOMA hailed Bishop MPUNDU for speaking against those that were being oppressed in the run up to the 2021 General Election.

Mr NGOMA said the UPND government is grateful to Archbishop MPUNDU as he stood firm and spoke out even when other clergy remained quiet.

UPND National Youth Chairperson, GILBERT LISWANISO thanked Archbishop MPUNDU for standing with the voiceless in society.
