A 49-year-old man of Kalomo District in Chief Chikanta’s Chiefdom is nursing burns in the Choma General Hospital after a Clinical Officer allegedly poured boiling water and burning charcoal on him.
When visited in the hospital, Milden Muleya had difficulties narrating to Byta FM News what transpired on 26th January, 2023 as he was in pain.
However, his young brother, Brisco Muleya, narrates that Milden went to seek shelter at Kulyambeba Rural Health Clinic during a downpour and started making noise as he was drunk.
Muleya told Byta FM News that women present at the health facility called the Clinical Officer on duty, who allegedly kicked and poured hot water on him before putting burning charcoal on his body.
He explained that when the matter was reported to Choma Central Police, the Clinical officer admitted beating Milden but denied causing burns on his body, hence not charged.
And Warris Mweemba, a resident of Chikanta Chiefdom, confirmed the story that was narrated by Brisco Muleya.
When contacted for confirmation, Kalomo District Health Director said she was informed that the man is mentally disturbed and normally goes to the health facility to cause havoc.
Meanwhile, Southern Province Commanding Police Officer, Paul Achiume, confirmed receiving a report of the incident but says the matter is currently under investigation.
