CONCOURT TO HEAR LUNGU AND WINA SECOND TERM LEGITIMACY CASE
The Constitutional Court has agreed to hear a fresh petition challenging the legitimacy of former President Edgar Lungu’s second term in office following his controversial election victory in 2016.
The petition, filed by Nkulukusa Teddy Kalusa, also questions the legality of then Vice President Inonge Wina’s tenure during the same period.
Mr. Kalusa contends that Mr. Lungu and Ms. Wina were never formally sworn into office by either the Chief Justice or the Deputy Chief Justice, as required under Article 105(1) of the Constitution.
The hearing is scheduled for January 2025, reigniting debates over the 2016 electoral process and its constitutional implications.

What left people wondering and are still wondering is that both the CJ and her deputy attended the swearing in ceremony, and why any of them could not do the job, they know better. Perhaps they can now explain in Court. On the news I heard that this case includes the refusal to hand over power to the S.
Then ecl is eligible to stand hearing your foolish thinking,if ecl was not sworn then he is eligible to stand for the second time.Dull think before you take an action
Ba Zam Zam slow down. Things are not as simple as you think. If indeed it is established that he was not legally sworn in, then he usurped power (which is treason).
Most of us suspected that there was something terribly wrong with the swearing in ceremony because both the Chief Justice and her deputy were at the ceremony but for some reason, they declined to swear Mr. Lungu into office.
This will definitely be very interesting. Well done Mr. Kalusa. Finally, we might get to the truth.
The former Commissioner of lands is in court for bidding for PF by grabbing Zambia Army land and giving it to the PF. I hope the high court Registrar who sworn in ECL will not find himself in deep legal waters hard to swim to safety. Life rarely rewards those who strive on excesses and fail to keep their lane. The Constitution clearly says the Chief justice and in his/ her absence the deputy will swear the president elect and running mate . The question is which authority did the Registrar use to swear ECL and Mrs Wina into office? I hope all will end well without the drama we witnessed in Mongu where someone attempted to commit suicide by jumping into the Zambezi river.
The level of lawlessness under PF is amazing. Here we are now, it catching up with them.
