COPPERBELT MINING EXPERT WELCOMES PRESIDENTS HICHILEMA’S MOVE TO RETURN KCM TO VEDANTA RESOURCES
President Hakainde Hichilema to officially hand back Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) to Vedanta Resources Limited tomorrow, Copperbelt mining expert Professor Peter Chileshe has hailed the decision as “great news” for the region.
Professor Chileshe emphasized that the President’s visit to the Copperbelt presents a vital opportunity to clarify the government’s approach to addressing the ongoing challenges in Zambia’s mining sector.
Economist Aaron Sikombe also praised President Hichilema’s mining policies, commending their positive impact on the industry.
Meanwhile, National Union of Miners and Allied Workers of Zambia President Saul Simujika lauded the New Dawn Government for its efforts in revitalizing the mining sector, particularly its progress in breathing new life into KCM and Mopani Copper Mines.
