Ronaldo never made it onto the pitch during Portugal’s competitive match, remaining an unused substitute for the entire game—a situation reportedly not seen for him since Euro 2008. 😳
Portugal manager Jorge Jesus explained that the decision was tactical. According to him, Ronaldo was ready to play, but the match called for a player with different characteristics.
Interestingly, Jesus revealed that he had considered bringing Ronaldo on around the hour mark, before ultimately deciding not to make the change. 👀
But Ronaldo staying on the bench wasn’t the only thing that caught attention…
Reports also claimed that Ronaldo did not acknowledge the supporters after the match. Jorge Jesus said he would speak with the captain about it, stressing that “the national team is the national team.”
Now, all eyes turn to the next opportunity. 👀🔥
