CSO-DAN SAYS CUMBERSOME PROCEDURE REQUIRED TO ACCESS CDF COULD BE REASON SOME PEOPLE ARE USING DUBIOUS MEANS TO ACCESS THE FUNDS
By Prudence Siabana

The Civil Society Organizations Decentralization Alliance Network-CSO-DAN- has charged that the cumbersome procedure required for one to access the Consistency Development Fund –CDF- could be the reason some people are using dubious means to access the funds.

CSO-DAN National Coordinator George Chimembe has since called on government to intensify its screening of people applying for the CDF and urgently consider reviewing the procedure of applications which is disadvantaging many Zambians.

Reacting to a recent development where 9 people have been taken to court for issuing fake cooperative certificates to groups in western and central provinces that wanted to apply for funding under CDF, Mr. Chimembe says government needs to find the root cause of such desperation for citizens that are resorting to acquire fake certificates in order to benefit from the CDF.

In an interview with Phoenix News, Mr. Chimembe reiterates that if the lacunas in the CDF guidelines remain unchecked, the lengthy procedures involved to access the funds may lead to corruption in the system.
