PF PRESIDENTIAL ASPIRING CANDIDATES

Current PF leadership not visionary, charges former Kapiri MP

THE PF has no visionary leadership, former ruling party Kapiri Mposhi member of parliament Eddie Musonda has charged.

In an interview, Musonda explained that the Patriot Front (PF) leadership under former president Edgar Lungu departed from Michael Sata’s pro-poor policies.

“The Patriot Front that was founded by the founding president late Michael Sata was a pro-poor political party. Unfortunately, after the demise of the founding party president of the PF, we supported the then party leadership of president Edgar Lungu; who I graduated with at the same time from the University of Zambia, the PF leadership decided to depart from the initial vision of the Michael Sata pro-poor government and leadership,” he said. “The current Patriot Front has no visionary leadership and, in fact, the Patriot Front has no visionary leadership.”

Musonda also backed calls by some parliamentarians to have their salaries and allowances increased.

He explained that members of parliament, in their execution of parliamentary duties, should not resort to using “personal resources to facilitate the implementation of development projects in their respective constituencies”.

“You know what, I have been a member of parliament for Kapiri Mposhi during the then ruling Patriot Front. And during my tour of duty as member of parliament, I traversed the world and where we used to see how our fellow MPs in other countries are taken care of,” explained Musonda. “They are provided with fuel each time they go in their constituencies by government. Their governments do provide for their subsistance allowances for all the days they spend in their respective constituencies.”
