EDITH NAWAKWI SUED FOR DEFAMATION OVER HATEMBO STORY.
Kenneth Mugaleta has sued FDD Leader Edith Nawakwi for defamation of character over her statements she made over Milton Hatembo and Pheluna Hatembo respectively.
According to a demand letter made by LM Chambers who are representing Mr. Mugaleta, it is alleged that between 2020 and 2021, Ms. Nawakwi held a number of press briefings were she accused a Mr. Kenneth Mugaleta and others of Kidnapping the Hatembo’s and beating them up to withdraw their complaint again Hakainde Hichilema.
According to a letter of demand obtained by this reporter, Ms. Nawakwi on several occasions made defamatory remarks against the former and her sentiments were published on some online Publication ‘Kalemba’ and a PF aligned Smart Eagles.
Further Ms. Nawakwi is said to have charged that, Kenneth Mugaleta and others were criminals who involved themselves in questionable conduct to kidnap the Hatembo’s to save [then Opposition Leader] Hakainde Hichilema .
Mr. Mugaleta is demanding for for a K2,500,000 and an apology that has to be published on Kalemba and Smart Eagles.
Ms. Nawakwi has 7 days to render a public apology or else she will be taken to court to substantiate her claims.
