Eight Nations Warn Against Renewed US Strikes on Iran

Foreign ministers from eight European and Middle Eastern countries have called for restraint and diplomacy as fears grow over a possible new US attack on Iran.

Ministers from the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Egypt met in Istanbul on October 23 to discuss escalating regional tensions, the Strait of Hormuz and wider security threats.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said the participating countries opposed another military intervention against Iran, warning that further attacks could expand the conflict. France also cautioned that renewed escalation would bring serious consequences, particularly for global energy prices.

The diplomatic meeting came after US Ambassador to Türkiye Tom Barrack said Washington could strike Iran as soon as this weekend. President Donald Trump, however, said he was unaware of the possibility raised by his envoy.

With regional security and vital shipping routes already under pressure, the talks underscored growing international concern that another round of US-Iran hostilities could trigger wider instability.
