EVENT ORGANISERS WARNED AGAINST BOOKING MAKHADZI.
Event organisers have been urged to exercise caution when booking award-winning South African singer Makhadzi, following a series of reported disputes involving missed performances, booking fees and contractual disagreements over the past few years..
The latest controversy emerged in Botswana, where the singer was involved in a legal dispute with promoter Gilbert Seagile of Gilbert Promotions over a planned One Woman Show. The dispute reportedly resulted in a court order preventing her from leaving the country until the matter was resolved.
However, this is not the first time the singer has faced allegations from event organisers.
In April 2022, Miga Events accused Makhadzi of failing to honour a booking for a family picnic at Ramatlhabama in Mahikeng, she did the same in Wolmaransstad,Ganyesa and Pampierstad.
The organisers said they had paid R70,000 for her performance but she allegedly failed to arrive. Her management disputed aspects of the complaint and said a refund had been processed.
In April 2023, businessman Jeffrey Malatji also accused the singer of failing to perform at the opening of Ejays Lounge in Moime village outside Tzaneen, despite an alleged R45,000 payment to her record label.
During the same year, event organiser Gregory Hlatshwayo accused her of failing to perform at the Exclusive White Lifestyle event in Kempton Park after allegedly receiving an R80,000 booking fee.
In January 2024, another organiser, Mfundo Mathons, reportedly demanded refunds after accusing the singer of missing three scheduled performances in Mpumalanga.
More recently, controversy erupted at the Kwaslondon Fun, Games and Musical Festival in December 2024 after Makhadzi failed to appear. Her management maintained that the promoter had not fulfilled the agreed payment terms.
These incidents have raised questions about the importance of clear contracts, communication and accountability in the entertainment industry.
Event organisers are being encouraged to verify booking arrangements, payment conditions and performance commitments before making financial commitments.
