Lovemore Kanyama

By Michael Nyumbu

Former Siavonga District Commissioner, Lovemore Kanyama’s attempts to rejoin the United Party for National Development, (UPND) has been met with opposition from sympathisers of the ruling party.

The former District Commissioner came under pressure Wednesday afternoon in a WhatsApp Group after he suggested that the UPND should welcome old members that left party in the past.

Kanyama, who suggested that old members like Sakwiba Sikota should be invited back to help restructure the ruling party, argued that those rejoining should not be treated as job seekers.

But the suggestion did not go without name calling and use of strong language between the former Siavonga DC and UPND sympathizers who warned him to stop trying to fit in the party.

Kanyama claims membership of the UPND since time immemorial, but ruling party sympathizers accused of trying to sneak back in the party he ditched for the PF.

Kanyama tells Byta FM News that politics is a about numbers and the UPND should start accepting old members to the party to consolidate its following.
