EZRA TEMBO: THE ULTIMATE BETRAYER OF THE TONSE ALLIANCE..
Zambians will not forget what Ezra Tembo has done. He did not just leave the Tonse Alliance, he stabbed it in the back at its most vulnerable moment.
Tembo offered his little-known NRPUP as a special purpose vehicle for the Alliance. Tonse trusted him. Tonse campaigned under his party. Brian Mundubile stood as presidential candidate on that ticket in good faith. Then the moment we lost the August 13 election, Tembo showed his true colours.
Instead of standing with the Alliance in solidarity, he rushed to concede defeat, congratulate Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND, and beg for space to “work” with them. He withdrew NRPUP from Tonse, hijacked all 16 proportional representation seats for himself and his cronies, and deliberately shut out every Tonse partner who sacrificed for the cause.
This is not leadership. This is political prostitution. Tembo used Tonse to become MP for Dag Hammarskjöld and Leader of the Opposition, then sold the Alliance to UPND for ministerial favours and comfort.
He is a traitor, an opportunist, and a disgrace to the opposition struggle. History will judge Ezra Tembo as the man who chose personal greed over collective sacrifice, who ditched his comrades to dine with the oppressor.
Tonse Alliance does not need such double-dealers. Good riddance to Tembo and his NRPUP betrayers.
