Journalist Faith Musonda has handed herself over to the police for questioning after the recovery of over K65 Million and US$57,000 kept at her house which is suspected to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained.
Ms. Musonda presented herself to Zambia Police Headquarters around 10:00 hours in the company of her two lawyers Jonas Zimba and Makebi Zulu but were redirected to the Lusaka division which is handling her case.
The trio came out from the over 1 hour interrogation around 11:55 but her lawyers who could not give much details asked journalists to respect their client’s privacy.
Police at the weekend disclosed the recovery of K65, 330, 000 discovered in 30 traveling bags and US$57,350 in a safe at Ms. Musonda’s house after a tip off from members of the public and the suspect was said to have been on the run until today.
But Ms. Musonda’s lawyer Makebi Zulu says the suspect has presented herself to the police to allay speculation that she has been on the run which he has denied.
Mr Zulu says during the interrogation, the stance is that police has given them time to obtain further instruction over what they require from the client.
He says the lawyers have agreed with the police on when to get back and declined to give further details.
But by broadcast time, Deputy Commissioner of Police James Masiye could not be reached for details on the outcome -MILLENNIUM RADIO 90.5 FM
