STATEMENT: FAZ OPENS INQUIRY ON ALLEGED SEXUAL ABUSE INCIDENCES IN WOMEN FOOTBALL
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has taken note of social media allegations of sexual abuse in women football in Zambia.
FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala says although there has been no record of an official complaint brought forward Football House had opened an inquiry into the matter.
“Although as FAZ we have no record of official complaints from anyone on the allegations, we consider these allegations very serious and have opened an inquiry into the matter,” says Kashala.
“We shall collaborate with the Zambia Police Service and other relevant stakeholders in dealing with this matter.”
Kashala says FAZ is encouraging anyone with useful information on the matter to come forward and report either to FAZ or law enforcement agencies.
“We have since written to the Zambia Police to invite any one with evidence to help with investigations. The nation shall be notified of the outcome of the inquiries once concluded,” he says.
“Until then, we shall provide no further comment on this matter.”
The FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala says preparations for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup are firmly on course with the team having innumerable engagements ahead of the tournament.
“We would like to assure the nation that preparations for the Copper Queens for the upcoming World Cup remain on course starting with the friendly on October 6 against the Orange Lioness of Holland in Breda,” Kashala says.
