FEMALE STUDENT DENIES KILLING LUSAKA DOCTOR

AFTER more than five months of incarceration on accusations of murdering and robbing a Lusaka-based veterinary doctor, a 23-year-old beauty along with her three male accomplices have appeared in the Lusaka High and pleaded not guilty.

Dorris Ndumba, a student of Luangwa District is believed to have taken a break from studies to try out a possible career in criminality as she linked up with Keegan Zulu 38, a businessman of Chalala area in Lusaka and Josat Tembo 42 a mechanic of Lusaka’s Chilenje Township.

It is alleged that the four between June 10 and 12, 2021 jointly and acting together murdered Evans Mwape Mwengwe.

Before murdering Dr Mwengwe, the group is also accused of having used actual violence to his Infinix phone valued at K5,000, a Mac book laptop valued at K23,800, two bags of maize valued at K300 and a Mercedes Benz ML320 registration no. BAB 2838 valued at US$14,500.

Dr Mwengwe was reported missing on June 10, 2021 whilst he was travelling from Kabwe to Lusaka.

According to the police preliminary inquiries revealed that the veterinarian offered a lift to Dorris and her co-conspirators from Bimas in Kabwe to Lusaka but the four allegedly turned against him and attacked him when they reached six miles in Lusaka’s Kabangwe area.

Dr Mwengwe’s body which was partially burnt, was discovered two days after he went missing, in Six Miles area. His vehicle which went missing at the time of the incident was retrieved from Tembo’s home in Chilenje area, partially disassembled.

The matter comes up on November 9 for commencement of trial.
