Four Somalis caught in fuel tanker

A combined team of Immigration and Police Officers in Isoka has apprehended four Somalis for failure to appear before an Immigration Officer on entry, possession of forged documents, and engaging in employment without a Permit.

The quartet was intercepted in the early hours of 17th February, 2023 at Mwaiseni Checkpoint aboard a Fuel Tank and Trailer Truck Horse Registration number BAT 1583 and Trailer R1511 BBM owned by Warsan Gas Transport Limited of Lusaka, following a tip-off from members of the public.

The Driver, Abdi Ali Mohammed (32), a Refugee, also had in his possession an expired Employment Permit under Ohan Transport Limited of Ndola.

The three passengers Feisal Ali Yusuf (24), Isse Ahmed Gure (30) and Khalid Maha Mohamed (25) had no entry endorsement stamps in their passports and also had in their possession fake Emergency Travel Documents bearing forged entry stamp endorsements.

It has been established that the Truck was carrying 30,000 litres of Petrol from Tanzania destined for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

All four suspects are detained at Isoka Police Station pending prosecution while the Truck has been impounded.

Meanwhile the Department f Immigration between 14th and 16th February, 2023 apprehended 40 persons for various immigration offences, secured 34 convictions, and refused 30 foreign nationals entry into Zambia for failing to meet entry requirements.
