GBM DENIES EVER RECEIVING FUNDS FROM MINISTRY OF FINANCE

Lawyers for renowned Lusaka Businessman, Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba have threatened to sue the Times of Zambia, Daily Nation and News Diggers for publishing a false story that he had received K70million from Ministry of Finance.

The papers wrote; ” GBM GOT K70M, Court hears how millions of jwacha were transferred from Treasury into ex-Defence Minister’s accounts”.

Following a testimony by an Esther Chisola, a Banker at Atlas Mara Limited in the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court, the newspaper alleged that Mr. Mwamba had received K70million.

The facts, however are that Ministry of Finance paid Curzon Logistics-Hongkong this company after a court settlement.

Mr. Mwamba merely provided debt-collection services.

Lawyers from Ellis & Co have given the newspapers 48hrs in which to retract the false assertions.

The lawyers stated that false assertions were malicious.
