GEARS ZAMBIA SHOCKED THAT MUMBI PHIRI’S COURT CASE HASN’T YET COMMENCED.

GEARS – Zambia Executive Director McDonald Chipenzi has expressed shock at the slow pace the case in which the former PF deputy SG Mumbi Phiri is moving at.

Mr Chipenzi believes cases before the Courts should be disposed of quickly so that people are not detained longer in the cells before knowing their fate.

“It’s better to know your fate, which may entail a continued stay in incarceration or a release if no case is found on you,” Mr Chipenzi said.

It’s our hope as GEARS-Zambia that this case and other cases which have taken long to be concluded may be looked at so as to avoid detaining people for long who may even turn out to be innocent as you may be aware the law prescribes everyone innocent before the Courts prove otherwise.
