GOVERNMENT PROCURES 120 AUTOMATIC WEATHER STATIONS

The Ministry of Green Economy and Environment has acquired 120 automatic weather stations to be installed in all districts by the end of the year.

The stations procured with support from the World Bank cost $3.8m.

Ministry of Green Economy Permanent Secretary, JOHN MSIMUKO says the ministry will begin installing the stations this quarter adding that all stations will be installed by the end of the year in all the 116 districts.

Mr. MSIMUKO says the addition of the weather stations will ensure information about the weather is given more effectively.

Speaking in Lusaka he said that the country currently has 42 automatic weather stations and 118 manual weather stations spread across 60 districts only.
