GOVERNMENT RELEAESES K19.8 MILLION SALARY ARREARS FOR TAZARA WORKERS

LUSAKA, 16th June 2022 – GOVERNMENT through the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Transport has released an additional K19.8 million to enable TAZARA dismantle part of the salary arrears.


Minister of Transport and Logistics Hon. FRANK MUSEBA TAYALI, MP says the funds will carter for payroll related salary payments. The Minister says Government last funded K18 million towards salary arrears in April 2022.

He says Government and TAZARA management have already commenced works on the Chambishi Bridge which is expected to be operational by end of July 2022. Hon. Tayali said that Government is committed to continue addressing the challenges of TAZARA until the business is made sustainable.


In December 2021, the President Mr. HAKAINDE HICHILEMA issued a directive that a lasting solution for all challenges affecting the smooth operations of TAZARA should be found, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance. Government is working round the clock to make sure that TAZARA becomes a viable business as soon as possible.
