GOVERNMENT SAYS EDGAR LUNGU’S  STATUE IN NDOLA ON HOLD PENDING BURIAL RESOLUTION

By: Mwema Shanshima

Government says plans to erect a statue of late former President Edgar Lungu at Jubilee Corner in Ndola will only proceed once matters surrounding his burial have been settled.

Ndola District Commissioner Precious Njekwa said the proposed statue, which is expected to be placed near the Freedom Statue, remains on hold pending the conclusion of outstanding issues involving the Lungu family.

Speaking to Sun FM TV, Ms Njekwa explained that the sculpture would eventually join those of Zambia’s former presidents at the historic site once the burial-related matters are settled, as government remains committed to honouring the late former head of state.
