GOV’T SUSPENDS IMPORT DUTY ON FILM, MUSIC EQUIPMENT

    By Brian Hantuba

Government has suspended duty on import of film and music equipment in accordance with Statutory Instrument Number 95 of 2022.

This gives an opportunity to organizations registered under the National Arts Council of Zambia to import equipment without paying taxes.

The list of exempted equipment includes loudspeakers, audio frequency electric amplifiers, television cameras and transmission apparatus among others.

Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts Permanent Secretary Chama Fumba says organisations or individuals intending to buy equipment must write an application letter to their respective National Arts Association.

In a post on his social media platform, Fumba added that prospective buyers must submit their TPIN Certificates among other documents two weeks prior to import.

Goods on which Customs Duty has been suspended shall not be sold or otherwise disposed of, to any person not entitled to import the goods free of duty.
