GRZ RELOCATES EXPECTANT MOTHERS FROM FLOOD PRONE AREAS IN MAZABUKA

Authorities in Mazabuka have started ferrying expecting mothers due to deliver in January and February, 2023 from places affected with floods to Health facilities.

Mazabuka District Health Director, Dr Phallon Mwaba, discloses that the move is aimed at enhancing emergency response to ensure expecting mothers and their children are safe.

Mwaba says the Ministry of Health is concerned with the current flooding being experienced in the district, with majority of Health Posts cut off due to heavy rains being experienced.

He notes that the District Health Office has so far established four centers where the expecting mother’s will be kept.

Mwaba adds that cooperating partners have come on board to help the District with food and logistics.

And one of the expecting mothers from Lubombo, Yvonne Hambote, expressed worry with the bad state of the road in her area, however thanking the Ministry of health for coming up with the initiative to establish centers for expecting mother’s.
