Auteur: Mouhamed Camara

Ousted on November 26 by General Horta N’Tam, Umaro Sissoco Embalo is seeking refuge in Morocco. According to information from Jeune Afrique, the deposed president left Brazzaville on Wednesday, December 3, to travel to the Moroccan capital, Rabat. This will be his third trip, following his journeys from Bissau to Dakar, and then from Dakar to Brazzaville.

According to the source, Umaro Sissoco Embalo boarded a special flight, accompanied by several of his close associates, bound for Morocco. The former president of Guinea-Bissau is expected to remain there for some time.

If he chose Rabat, after Dakar and Brazzaville, it was because Embalo maintained good diplomatic relations with the Moroccan authorities, being also a long-time supporter of Morocco’s claim to Western Sahara.
