HATRED, TOXIC POLITICS IRK IMBOELA
NATIONAL Democratic Congress (NDC) says hatred, divisions, and a toxic political culture experienced in the country at the moment are threatening the peace and security of the nation.
Party President Saboi Imboela said the time has come for Zambians from all walks of life to take a deep breath and reflect on what is happening in the country.
Imboela said a genuine and non-confrontational national healing and reconciliation was the only call for a united and prosperous Zambia.
“Today, I have taken time to reflect and realised how divided our country has become. Zambia stands at a critical juncture, torn between its glorious past and an uncertain future. Our nation is plagued by division, hatred, and a toxic political culture dominated by blame games rather than solutions. Citizens are more focused on pointing fingers than working together,” she said.
She said the current division and political hatred the country was experiencing was working against unity.
“This environment is eroding our democracy, national unity, and peace, leaving us questioning the future of our beloved motherland. Every morning, we wake up to harsh statements in newspapers and on social media, filled with unpatriotic language and personal attacks. Fellow Zambians have become adversaries, engaging in legal battles and trading insults online. We have lost the basic sense of patriotism, and self-interest has overshadowed national pride, hindering progress,” Imboela said
Imboela said the country’s democratic pillars were no longer strong but broken, shrinking the country’s democratic space.
She said the dream for a better Zambia had collapsed, urging Zambians to reflect on where they wanted the country to be.
“Our democracy is shrinking daily. Poverty is rising, and the gap between the rich and the poor is widening. Yet, we continue to glorify leaders who fail to keep their promises. Fellow citizens, I call upon all Zambians to embrace dialogue and work towards a truly united Zambia.
We must acknowledge past wounds and move toward forgiveness. Let us foster national dialogue by promoting tolerance, empathy, and cooperation. We are one nation and one people, regardless of political differences,” she said.
Imboela has since urged President Hakainde Hichilema to seriously demonstrate true leadership by leading by example, showing unity, and embracing those who disagree with them.
“Our commitment to reconciliation and unity is the foundation for a peaceful and prosperous Zambia. Personal attacks, bitterness, and political frustration will not heal our country; they will only deepen the wounds. It is time to critically address the root causes of our challenges and move forward with love, peace, and unity,” said Imboela.
Daily Nation Zambia

You wonder how such a vulgar person can talk about violent newspaper headlines. Isnt it your bitter friends in the opposition who are always wishing evil of those government.Tell your uncle Fred and Ex-convict Sakala to stop spewing the nonsensical hatred in their tuma newspapers. Also stop your vulgar language so that you get in tandem with what you are saying.
Imboela, in life there is what is called a hierarchy, be it in a home, an organisation or a country as a whole. Just because you have assumed a position as political party president, it does not mean you are equal to other political party presidents. Measure yourself. Remember you wanted to equate yourself to ECL and caused him to leave UKA, then today you are preaching unity????, when you are the architect of disunity,!!!!. Introspect, then maybe you will learn how to rate yourself
Bad statement from saboi,if she was serious she could have mentioned those people who promoting nonsense in Zambia than generalizing.winter kabimba is the only open man he doesn’t beat the bush.
The Root cause is very clear for anyone objective enough to see, no need to beat about the bush: HH and his UPND has not been accepted and will never be accepted by certain tribal and political groupings in this country to be ruled by him and his Party. They just loathe and disgust that with a vehement passion! Let us not always be skating around the “Elephant in the Room”!!
@Simpo Sitali
I sometimes sit and introspect, and ask myself whether am being unfair to Mr Hakainde Hichilema.
Then when am struck by the reality of ; Davies Chama, Chishimba Kambwili, Munir Zulu, Jay Jay Banda, Nixon Chilangwa, Ronald Chitotela, Maureen Mabonga, late Edith Nawakwi, Ambassador Emmanuel Mwamba, Fred Mmembe, Mwenda, Brebnar Changala, Given Lubinda, Nakachinda, Mumbi Phiri , Joe Malanji, Davies Mwila….all these incarcerated at one time, in prison, or in queue to Prison.
For Offences which even the Sacreds have committed, but never held into account.
And I look at the Government Institutions.. Electoral Commission of Zambia, Human Rights Commission, Judicial Complaints Commission, Registrar of Societies etc
Add Bill 7, Bill 13, Secret Census Results, Secret Delimitation report, Media Bill, Hate Speech Bill, etc
Then one looks at Nellie Mutti ‘s Parliament
And Mumba Malila’s Judiciary
It’s not a Tribal thing when a person says Hakainde should go in 2026.
The reality is just too strong.
There is no credible opposition just Keep him till 2031
bitterness stems from being out of power, not having anything to offer for the country. The people who are bitter have a history of looting the treasury.
Saboi Imboela has consistently expressed her negative views about the UPND government since President Hakainde Hichilema took office, driven by feelings of hatred, bitterness, envy, jealousy, and hypocrisy. It is disgraceful for her to criticize matters she has previously supported.
The governance of Zambia under the PF regime was far worse than the current situation under President Hakainde Hichilema. His Excellency has made significant efforts to unify the nation through sound economic policies, improved the rule of law, and addressed tribal issues in a constructive manner. Those involved in theft and corruption are dissatisfied with President Hichilema’s political approach and leadership, leading them to consistently belittle and mock him with offensive comments and statements.
It is regrettable that many have quickly forgotten the struggles they endured during the oppressive PF regime, where their rights to freedoms of speech and assembly were severely restricted. They have also overlooked the mismanagement and misappropriation of resources that occurred during that time. PF cadres wielded more power than the state police, flaunting large sums of money and ridiculing the educated by claiming that education was worthless without money. Members of opposition parties faced assaults and brutal beatings from PF thugs, all in full view of the police and PF leadership, who took no action.
On the other hand, the UPND government is actively addressing political violence and corruption, yet it appears that the PF and other opposition leaders fail to recognise the accomplishments achieved by the UPND during its four years in power. The opposition parties seem to be filled with individuals harboring bitterness, hatred, and tribal sentiments.
Mwakamba late ba Saboi, if you advised your fellow politicians as early as possible no one would have been arrested for any crime or seditious crimes. The disrespect for President being exhibited to day is alarming. Some young people are being used to insult big people who are their parents surely, is this normal? Politics of lies and falsehoods, fake narratives, innuendoes, fake news at the expense of better checks of balances.People are waiting to hear from opposition the new things they would see if they are voted in power. What are you going to do differently for mother Zambia? Pin point the errors, the UPND mistakes are making, expose them openly than insults we hear.No proper campaign messages so far. Those that have been arrested and in prison had cases to answer and the courts found them guilty. The peace and reconciliation can happen if that good will is shown. Some people must be remorseful and not shouting loudly and supporting wrong things.”Batu ba no itekula” Lozi meaning people must do self introspection. This is paramount for gains of peace and tranquility in order to have well levelled political playing fields.Your political messages will pass smoothly and people may get your messages.Very soon we are likely to witness insults among the opposition as they salvage for a leader to challenge President HH in the coming election. No clear messages but just misleading stories.Shame!
