HEGSETH’S POSITION UNDER THREAT AS TRUMP REPORTEDLY CONSIDERS REPLACING HIM AFTER REPUBLICAN ELECTION DEFEATS
U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth could be facing an uncertain political future following major Republican losses in the midterm elections, with the war involving Iran reportedly emerging as a significant factor behind the party’s poor performance.
According to reports cited by CBS News, President Donald Trump has asked his advisers whether Hegseth should leave his position following the Republican Party’s disappointing electoral results.
Vice President JD Vance reportedly took a more direct position, saying: “The reason we lost is the war.”
Meanwhile, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is reportedly being considered as a possible replacement for Hegseth, although Trump has not made a final decision.
The situation could become even more complicated as Democrats, having secured majorities in both chambers of Congress, may pursue impeachment proceedings against members of the Trump administration.
With both parties preparing for a potentially intense political confrontation, Washington could be heading toward a new wave of political battles and possible personnel changes.
