HH TO HANDOVER KCM TO VEDANTA ON WEDNESDAY
PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema is on Wednesday this week expected to officially hand over Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) to Vedanta Resources.
Mr Hichilema is confident that the handover of the mining firm and its operations will boost the economic status of the Copperbelt while complementing Government’s quest to increase copper production.
Last month, Vedanta Resources settled dues worth US$245.75 million to help revive operations of KCM.
“Wednesday this coming week, I am going to the Copperbelt to hand over KCM, the last of the mines that has been troubled for 10, 50 years.
“That will give the Copperbelt a lease of life,” the President said.
The head of State said this yesterday when he graced the Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia’s 60th anniversary at Bread of Life Church International.
