“Hichilema lied to Zambians to win polls,” says Harry Kalaba

3rd June 2022

Harry Kalaba, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Zambia says President Hakainde Hichilema sold a big lie to Zambians to win public office.

Mr Kalaba said Zambians must blame themselves for having bought what was clearly a lie during the campaign that eventually saw Hichilema assume office as the seventh President of Zambia after President Edgar Lungu conceded defeat.

“Baletubepa fye ba Hichilema bale lemba napa board ati the dollar shall drop by 14hrs (President Hichilema lied to us about many things including the drop in the value of the dollar to kwacha on the same day he assumed office, a total lie),” said Mr Kalaba.
The opposition leader called on Zambians to wake up and make the right decision during the next elections because the Hichilema government is clearly doing “a job on training,” in State House that is pushing the cost of living up daily for Zambians that are already starving.

“President Hichilema should have trained for the jib first before he targeted high office like his colleagues Garry Nkhombo who first ran and served as parliamentarians,” said Mr Kalaba.

Mr Kalaba said its sad to note that prices of commodities such as mealie meal, sugar, cooking oil and other things such as fertiliser for farmers and transport costs have exponentially shoot through the roof since President Hichilema assumed office compared to the Lungu administration.

Independent media reports show that a majority of Zambians today can barely eat two square meals due to the high costs of food and an acute lack of jobs, especially for the youth.

Mr Kalaba has pledged to create jobs and reduce poverty if his Democratic Party wins the 2026 polls.
