President Edgar Lungu, through his official residence, State House has refuted information going rounds that he has cancelled his trip to Southern Province.
Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Isaac Chipampe says the truth is that the President had no scheduled trip to Southern province at all.
Chipampe said the Head of State could therefore not cancel a trip that was not there.
He says President Lungu was equally surprised that some people had held briefings and came up with certain conspiracy theories concerning the imaginary trip.
Chipampe told ZNBC News this evening that the President will announce his trip to Southern Province when he decides to go there or to any part of Zambia.
He has advised the public to treat the misinformation flying around with the contempt it deserves.
His comments also follows claims by the opposition party, UPND which told the media yesterday that Lungu had plans to visit the Province in question.
The UPND claimed that Lungu wanted to cause trouble in the Province in order to blame the opposition party and arrest its leader Hakainde Hichilema.
